Wedding Shower!

When I woke up to snow last Friday I was not very happy about it.  Just when I thought spring had sprung mother nature decided to let me know who was really in charge.  I could have spent the day feel gloomy but then I remembered that I had flowers to do for a wedding shower.   There is nothing like fresh flowers to brighten any day, especially when those fresh flowers are beautiful hydrangea.  Here are some quick photos of the periwinkle and cream lovelies.

Yesterday was the Bridal Faire and I had such a good time.  When planning for the show I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to go with the flowers.  I decided I would do something bright that would showcase individual flowers and the many ways they can be used.  At the last wedding show there seemed to be a lot of brides that had chosen teal or turquoise as one of their colors.  Unfortunately there are no natural flowers in these colors.  I chose to use shades of pink, red, and orange that work well accented with teal or turquoise.  I was really happy with how the flowers turned out and got a lot of good feedback from brides and fellow vendors at the show.  It is so nice to talk with brides and find out what real world brides are looking for and getting excited about.  One of my favorite things about working with brides is being a part of  memories that will last a lifetime. Big big thanks to all the brides who let me be a part of their big day by sharing their vision with me. More pictures to come.

Lovely Yellow!

From contemporary to rustic, yellow can be used for any style wedding.  Using yellow in fresh flowers can have a dramatic impact on the overall look of a wedding.  This is especially true when bright yellows are paired with dark contrasting colors such as dark blue or dark purple.  For a softer look, buttery yellow tones can be paired with orange, peach or white.  These color combination work well in spring but can also be used in all seasons. If you are planning a rustic or outdoor wedding, mustard yellow yarrow and billy balls are perfect.

 

For a bright playful wedding Asiatic lilies, gerber daisies, calla lilies, and tulips are good options.

 

Looking for yellow flowers with interesting texture? Try Oncidium orchids, daffodils (only available in spring), mini and large sunflowers, celosia, hypericum berry, ranunculus and leucodendron.

Purple passion!

Purple is a common wedding color. I always get excited when brides come to me with the color purple because there are so many options.  Purple can be bold and exciting when paired with hot pink, bright orange, or red.  It can be cool and soothing with complementing shades of blue and dark green.  Lavender can be soft and feminine when combined with white, light green and soft yellow.  Purple can also be striking on its own in varying shades.
